Our Year in Reading: Prize Winners of 2020
Literary prizes are a wonderful way to discover books you may have missed and highlight some of the most exciting voices of today. Here are some of our favorites from this year.
C. Pam Zhang was awarded National Book Award’s 5 Under 35 prize for her debut How Much of These Hills is Gold that seamlessly weaves together myth, adventure, history, and the Chinese immigrant experience.
Maggie O'Farrell won the Women’s Prize for Fiction this year for Hamnet. Set in England, 1580, the Black Death creeps across the land, an ever-present threat, infecting the healthy, the sick, the old and the young, alike in this exceptional historical novel.
Colson Whitehead won his second Pulitzer Prize in 2020 for The Nickel Boys. Whitehead is an expert craftsman who always makes you empathize deeply with his characters.
