How can I be considered for an event at Bookmarks?

Thank you for your interest in having an event at Bookmarks! Bookmarks is a literary arts nonprofit that cultivates community by bringing people of all ages together with books and authors who educate, inspire, challenge, and entertain. Just as we curate the selection of books in our store, we curate events that support and further the Bookmarks mission.

Bookmarks receives hundreds of event requests each year. Because of the pace of publishing and volume of requests received, our event programming prioritizes new and recently published books. We generally program 3-6 months in advance; depending on where we are with our programming cycle, it may take 1-2 months to contact you if your submission meets our programming needs. Because hosting an event at Bookmarks disrupts the order of the bookstore and prevents customers from complete access, please note we typically do not schedule events that we think will bring in less than 30 attendees. Thank you for understanding that we cannot accept phone calls or drop-in visits about event requests.

EVENT REQUESTS

If your book is recently or about to be traditionally published by a traditional publisher and readily available through fully-returnable, standard distribution channels at a 45% or greater discount, please have your publisher contact us directly

Bookmarks hosts authors with books published by independent publishers and self-published authors through our From the Page Author Showcase. This event is a collaboration between Bookmarks and Winston-Salem Writers and is held at Bookmarks. Each month features a group of authors who read from and discuss their current book followed by a booksigning. Please keep reading for requirements and submission information.

If you are an independently or self-publisher authors selected for From the Page, Bookmarks will sell your book on consignment at a 40/60 split on the following schedule, to be processed & paid after the last consignment period:
