Bookmarks provides free programming for all ages throughout the year, including our annual Festival of Books and Authors, the largest annual book festival in the Carolinas. Our extensive outreach to our area schools includes author events, book fairs, book donations, and discounted bulk purchasing. We host book clubs for all ages and storytimes for preschool age children monthly. Our annual summer initiative, Book with Purpose, is designed to unite the greater Winston-Salem community in learning and discussion on a central topic.

EX LIBRIS SOCIETY

In 2023, the Bookmarks Board of Directors announced the establishment of the Ex Libris Society, a core group of donors who have committed a minimum gift of $1,000 each year, for three consecutive years. The Ex Libris Society provides sustainable, unrestricted funding for the outreach work Bookmarks does to create connection and belonging through books.

Ex Libris is a Latin phrase that means a book owner's identification label, a way to stake your claim on a book and profess ownership. This is the perfect phrase to describe who members of the Ex Libris Society are to Bookmarks – people who believe that increasing access to books for everyone transforms lives. People who embrace the tagline "Books with Purpose" and want to invest in the future of literacy in our community.

Please join these generous donors as an inaugural member of the Ex Libris Society. Members will receive invitations to private events throughout the year, including receptions with authors. Most importantly, members will know that they are making possible the programs at Bookmarks that educate, inspire, challenge and entertain.
