Support Literacy Day benefiting The Downtown School
On Monday, May 22, shop in-store or online to support The Downtown School and support their initiative for more students to have access to books at home.
We will donate 10% of the day's sales as book credit so they can purchase books for their program and media center.
About The Downtown School
- Serves Pre-K to 8th-grade students and their families.
- The Downtown School's mission is to be a catalyst for students to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens through the combined efforts of the school, parents, business partners and community.
- DTS has a schoolwide reading program called Two Books, One School," in which our K-8 students, families, and teachers participate. Each year, they select 2 books--one for K-4, one for 5-8--that share common themes or elements, and that we think will engage students, and give every student (middle grade) and family (K-4) their own copy of the book to keep.
- Funds earned through Support Literacy Days at Bookmarks will go towards purchasing the books for the 2023-2024 selection.
About Support Literacy Days at Bookmarks 2023
Bookmarks is a literary arts non-profit that cultivates community by bringing people of all ages together with books and authors who educate, inspire, challenge, and entertain. We strive to increase access to books for all, especially the young people in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County community. We are dedicated to supporting programs and schools that promote literacy and equitable access to books at school and at home.
Support Literacy Days at Bookmarks will highlight identified schools and literacy initiatives in the community in need of support. We will donate ten percent of the day’s sales from our Bookstore
located in downtown Winston-Salem. Support Literacy Days at Bookmarks will be held once a month. Schools and programs applied in December 2022 and applications are currently closed. Click here to learn more and stay updated.
